Pivotal Moments of Faith

January 4, 2015

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matt. 17:20

Build your lives on the foundation of your holy faith.  Jude 1:20 (NLT)

1. Plan life around a future that lasts.

When he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in a tent… Abraham did this because he was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.  Heb. 11:9-10 (NLT)

We set our eyes not on what we see but on what we cannot see. What we see will last only a short time, but what we cannot see will last forever.  2 Cor. 4:18 (NCV)

2. Be responsible with today.

“To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who are unfaithful, even what little they have will be taken away.”  Matt. 25:29 (NLT)

3. Act on the future.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.  So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?  And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own? … You cannot serve both God and money.” Luke 16:10-13

By an act of faith, Abel brought a better sacrifice to God than Cain. It was what he believed, not what he brought, that made the difference. That’s what God noticed and approved as righteous. Heb. 11:4 (Mes)

They gave much because of their great joy. I can tell you that they gave as much as they were able and even more than they could afford.  2 Cor. 8:2-3 (NCV)

“Now my advice to you is to use ‘money’, tainted as it is, to make yourselves friends, so that when it comes to an end, they may welcome you into eternal dwellings.” Luke 16:9 (Ph)

4. Transform to be like Jesus.

He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him. Rom. 8:29 (Mes)

“Therefore go and make disciplesbaptizing them … and teaching them … And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 28:19-20
