Pivotal Moments of Faith

BELIEVE GOD THROUGH IT

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. 1 Peter 1:13 (NLT)

Build your lives on the foundation of your holy faith. Jude 1:20 (NLT)

… faith that does nothing is dead. James 2:26 (NCV)

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I BUILD A TRUSTING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD?

It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Heb. 11:6 (NLT)

  • God rewards me.

He will keep you strong to the end, 1 Cor. 1:8

  • He makes me a strong person.

Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him, so you will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all he has done. Col. 2:7 (NLT)

  • My life is built on Him.

  • My faith grows.

  • Thanksgiving overflows in my life.

HOW DO I BELIEVE GOD?

What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. Heb. 11:1 (NLT)

1. Engage my mind.

By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. Heb. 11:3

2. Pay the price.

Whoever is not willing to carry the cross and follow me cannot be my follower. If you want to build a tower, you first sit down and decide how much it will cost, to see if you have enough money to finish the job. Luke 14:27-28 (NCV)

“Everyone leaving home, wife, brothers, parents, or children for the sake of the Kingdom of God, will be repaid many times over now, as well as receiving eternal life in the world to come.” Luke 18:29-30 (TLB)

3. Change my mind.

Put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; be made new in the attitude of your minds; and put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Eph. 4:22-24

4. Work with God.

We should make plans—counting on God to direct us. Prov. 16:9 (TLB)

You can make many plans, but the LORD’S purpose will prevail. Prov. 19:21 (NLT)

5. Step forward.

Faith that is alone—that does nothing—is dead. James 2:17 (NCV)
