Living in a Post-Christian Society

1 Corinthians 15:1-11

Now I make known to you … the gospel which I preached to you,… 1 Cor. 15:1 (NAS)

1. The good news is good only if I respond to it.

Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, … hold fast the word which I preached to you, … according to the Scriptures, 1 Cor. 15:1-4 (NAS)

You received it and have taken your stand on it. You are also saved by it, if you hold to the message I proclaimed to you—unless you believed for no purpose. 1 Cor. 15:1-2 (HCSB)

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Phil. 2:13 (NLT)

2. I choose to get life from what generates the good news.

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also

received… 1 Cor. 15:3a (NAS)

Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he

was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to

the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to

the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five

hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of

whom are still living, … Then he appeared to James, then to

all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to

one abnormally born. 1 Cor. 15:3-8

For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. Whether, then, it is I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. 1 Cor. 15:9-11

I need to:

1. Follow Jesus closely.

Live in me, and I will live in you. A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in me. John 15:4 (GW)

2. Rest in God’s love.

I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Rom 8:38a (NLT)

3. Put God’s plans ahead of my plans.

Seek first God’s kingdom and what God wants. Then all your other needs will be met as well. Mat 6:33 (NCV)

4. Follow the Holy Spirit’s lead.

Let us keep in step with the Spirit. Gal 5:25

5. Make the most of how God made me.

Try to have a sane estimate of your capabilities by the light of the faith that God has given to you all. Rom 12:3 (Ph)

6. Learn contentment.

I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation … through him who gives me strength. Phil. 4:12-13
