Mark 9

June 12, 2016

Mark 9:24 "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"

1. Faith is when we "believe" and "commit".

Mark 9:2-4 After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John with Him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There He was transfigured before them. His clothes became a dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.

Mark 9:7 "This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to Him!"

Mark 9:5-6 "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters-one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."(He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)

Mark 9:12 "...the Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected..."

Mark 9:19O unbelieving generation, how long shall I stay with you?"

Mark 9:22 "But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us."

Mark 9:23 "If you can? said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes."

Mark 9:24 "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"

BELIEF is a decision in the MIND.

COMMITMENT is a decision of the WILL.

You cannot choose to believe something.

The object of faith wins you over; you can't win yourself over to the object.

But belief you must have. You've got to be convinced and persuaded before you make a commitment.

2. Faith is when we commit 100%, without seeing the whole picture.

3. Faith is when we're committed even when questions come.

1 Corinthians 15:20 (NLT) The fact is that Christ has been raised from the dead. He has become the first of a great harvest of those who will be raised to life again.

John 3:15 (NLT) "Everyone who believes in me will have eternal life."
