Finding Your True Self

October 30, 2016

  • Find Grace

The Ten Commandments were given so that all could see the extent of their failure to obey God's laws. But the more we see our sinfulness, the more we see God's abounding grace forgiving us. Before, sin ruled over all men and brought them to death, but now God's kindness rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 5:20-21 (TLB)

That means you must not give sin a vote in the way you conduct your lives. Don't give it the time of day. Don't even run little errands that are connected with that old way of life. Throw yourselves wholeheartedly and full-time - remember, you've been raisedfrom the dead! - into God's way of doing things. Sin can't tellyou how to live. After all, you're not living under that old tyranny any longer. You're living in the freedom of God.

 Romans 6:11-14 (Message)

"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. For the Scriptures declare that the rivers of living water shall flow from the inmost being of anyone who believes in me."

 John 7:37-38 (TLB)

  • Forgive

"I assure you that any sin can be forgiven,"

 Mark 3:28 (NLT)

Those who enter into Christ's being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the aire, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death.

 Romans 8:1 (Message)

Jesus looked at them intently and said, "Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible."

Matthew 19:26 (NLT)

"If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive sins.

 Matthew 6:14-15  (NLT)

  • Forsake

...put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

 Ephesians 4:22-25 (NIV)
