SYNCED WITH GOD

1 Corinthians 8:4-6

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? ... you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. James 4:1-3

Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? James 4:4 (NLT)

The road to life is to live in sync with God.

1. Choose what is, not what isn’t.

So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), 1 Cor. 8:4-5

The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt. Who can know it perceive his own heart and mind? Jer. 17:9 (Amp)

2. Relish God’s love for me.

Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, 1 Cor. 8:6a (NAS)

Rom. 8:28-30

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Rom. 8:31-32 (NLT)

3. Live as who I am made to be.

... one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; 1 Cor. 8:6b (NAS)

In view of God’s mercy, offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Rom. 12:1

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Rom. 12:2 (NLT)

4. Look for my identity through Christ.

and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him. 1 Cor. 8:6c (NAS)

"I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." Matt. 11:30 (Mes)

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matt. 6:33 (NLT)
